Absolutely conveyed my own fears and dilemmas around sharing my language with the next generation. My best bet will be if they learn at least Odia (My spouse's mother tongue) if not Marathi given that she has a strong connection the way a mother tongue ideally has. The scenarios played out are so real here. Thanks for sharing.
Growing up with my grandparents, I have always grown up with culture and traditions around me. Now that I have moved away for work, my entire life has changed. I don't practice or celebrate the festivals I grew up celebrating, simply because there is no one around me who does that. Sometimes I remember the funny sayings my grandmother used to tell me, and I miss it! So, I relate with your post. It hits home.
